Getting ready for Fall Crew!

Heart Crew is excited for the beginning of school and the beginning of the Fall Regatta Season. We will begin practice on September 15, 2015 so look out for updates from Coach Liz!

Heart Crew is ready for the Spring Regatta Season!

Having trained hard all winter and participated in both the Main Line Slide and the Center City Slam, Heart Crew are ready for the 2015 Spring regatta season to start!

Heart Crew Fall Success!

Heart Crew is currently registering Middle and Upper School rowers for the Winter Conditioning and Spring Rowing Programs. We had a great fall season, competing in the Navy Day, Head of the Charles and Head of the Schuylkill rRgattas! We would also like to congratulate senior Caroline Garvey who has accepted a place on the University of Massachusetts Amherst  Division 1 Varsity Crew Team starting in September 2015!

Heart Crew participates in summer rowing events: Heart Crew rowers and Coach Liz participated in regattas and training events during their summer holidays. Rising Freshmen from the 2013 Middle School Rowing Program participated in the Navy Rowing summer camp program, and many US rowers took time with Coach Liz to stay in shape on the Schuylkill. Caroline and Coach Liz both trained and rowed for Vesper in the Independence Day Regatta, and the USRowing Club Nationals, where Vesper placed first in the Club Trophy standings with 14 Golds, 12 Silvers and 6 Bronze medals! They also travelled to Ontario and competed at the 132nd Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, where Coach Liz placed second in the Senior Womens Ltwt Double.

October 27, 2013: Heart Crew end Fall Rowing Season with a strong showing at the Head of the Schuylkill

Sacred Heart Crew had  a great weekend of racing and celebration at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, the last regatta of their successful Fall Season. In Saturday's racing, Coach Liz Euiler rowed in three events for Vesper, including a first place finish in the Women's College & Open Light Doubles, a 6th place finish in Womens College & Open Light Singles, and a 5th in the Womens College & Open Quads.
Sunday's racing started with Caroline, Caitie, and Cece all finishing strong in the Women's High School under 19 Singles Final. The  Women's High School Quads (Under 19) Final included an excellent time for Heart Crew's Quad including Meg, Shannon, Lindsay, and Caitie. In the final event of the afternoon for Heart Crew, Cece and Caroline delivered a strong performance in the Women's High School Doubles (Under 19) Final. 

Heart Crew was also celebrating with Senior Cece Hess, who earned honorable mention honor roll recognition on the 2013-14 USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll. The USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll recognizes high school seniors from across the country who have excelled in both academics and rowing and we are thrilled that Cece has been recognized for both her commitment to rowing at Sacred Heart and her strong academic record.

 

October 20, 2013: Heart Crew races in the Head of the Charles!

 Heart Crew was well represented at the 49th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on October 20, 2013. Cece Hess and Caroline Garvey competed in the Womens Youth Doubles event and Coach Liz Euiler raced in the Womens Lightweight Eights! 

  

2013 Fall Regatta Season Has Begun! Heart Crew has begun its Fall Regatta season, racing in a fast Schuylkill River for the annual Navy Day Regatta. The team has started strong, with two boats finishing in 4th place, and one in 11th, in a very competitive field. We will send a double to the Head of the Charles on October 20th, and then once again launch all of the Fall Rowers at the Head of the Schuylkill on October 27th!    

September, 2013: Former SHRA Coach Emily Schmeig is strong at Head of the Potomac. Rowing in the Women's Lightweight Single race, Emily placed second with a time of 19:04.0

September, 2013: Gearing up for Fall Crew!! School has started and we are getting excited to start the Fall Rowing program with Coach Sean. Once again we will be volunteering at the Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival in October and inviting new rowers to join us at Vesper for our Learn-To-Row. We are planning our regatta schedule and will see you at the Head of the Charles and the Head of the Schuylkill. Can't wait to ROW!!

  

 July 6, 2013: Kelsey and Bill Hudome placed third in the Independence Day Regatta Father/Daughter 2X (1000m) final, rowing for Fairmount !

 April 20, 2013: Taylor Brady ('12) with Drexel Freshman 8 wins Kerr Cup! The Drexel Freshman 8 including Taylor Brady, a 2012 graduate of Sacred Heart and SHRA, won gold at the Kerr Cup, beating out Fordham, LaSalle and Villanova.

 

 

     

March 2013: Spring Regatta Season Opens for Heart Crew! Following the Spring Season Kick off Dinner on Friday evening, the 1st Manny Flick of the 2013 Season was held on a blustery St Patrick's Day.  See CREW 2012-2013 Highlights and Events & Pictures sections to see the details of the racing season and check out SHRA coverage in the Main Line Times!

October 28, 2012: Heart Crew races Hurricane Sandy at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta! Heart Crew launched 4 boats onto a fast Schuylkill River on the second day of the Head of the Schuylkill Rgatta. The rain held off for all four of their races although winds picked up during the day in advance of Hurricane Sandy.  Coach Kelsey and the girls were very proud of their results and the team is now taking a well deserved break before the start of the Winter Conditioning Program with the new Heart Crew members. October 2012: Emily Schmieg helps power Undine Barge Club to 3rd Place finish at 2012 Head of the Charles Regatta, Cambridge MA Friend and former Coach of Heart Crew, Emily Schmieg rowed with her crew in the Womens Lightweight Four at the 48th annual Head of the Charles in Cambridge MA, finishing 3rd out of 16 competitors in this event. June 13, 2012: Ariana McDevitt (2008) Named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Women's Rowing Academic All-Area Team

 A McDevitt at SJU Senior Year 2012  Ariana McDevitt, CDSSH Class of 2008 and SJU Class of 2012, was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Women's Rowing Academic All-Area, Team. To qualify for this honor, an athlete must be in his/her second year at college and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Ariana was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team in 2012. The team's Most Outstanding Performer for this season, she was part of the silver-medal winning Quad boat at this year's Atlantic 10 Championships. During her career, she earned two medals in the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, including a gold medal in the 2011 Second Varsity 8. McDevitt graduated from SJU in May 2012 with a degree in business, while maintaining a grade-point average of 3.49. January 9, 2011: Drexel Women's Crew Announces Five Signees for the 2012-13 Season Philadelphia, Pa. – Director of Rowing Paul Savell welcomes five early signees for the 2012-13 women's crew season on Wednesday afternoon. Taylor Brady, Rose Ehrlich, Jordan Marinchak, Julie McGlynn, and Allie Schachter will join the Dragons this fall on the Schuylkill River. Brady, a Philadelphia native, helped her crew capture first place at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and the SRAA Nationals in the junior quad event in 2011. Brady will major in political science." June 2009: Maddy Davis to be in World Championships! Congratulations to Madeline Davis '05, who was selected to represent the USA at the U23 World Championships in the Czech Republic this Summer. Madeline graduated from Princeton University in May 2009 where she was an All American and Captain of the Lightweight Womens Team. She qualified for the US National Team in the LW 2x and competed at the 2009 World Championships. Madeline rowed all four years at Sacred Heart and was Captain of the team in 2005, when the team won the Manny flick Point trophy. Sacred Heart Crew is very proud of Madeline's accomplishments and wish her continued success. Madeline is now the crew coach at the Hun School in Princeton NJ.

May 2009: Susan Groff named to Big East all Academic Team!  Congratulations to Susan Groff '06 who is entering her senior year at Syracuse University. Susan rowed in the Varsity 8 and was selected for the Big East All Academic Team. She was also a member of the Athletic Directors Honor Roll. Susan rowed all four years at Saced Heart and was Captain of the team in 2006.

June 11, 2007: Clemson Rowing Announces Seven Signees for 2007-08, including Kelsey Hudome, Class of 2007!     
Clemson, SC - The Tiger rowing program announced the signing of seven student-athletes for the 2007-08 season on Monday. Clemson rowing recently completed its ninth season as a varsity sport...Kelsey Hudome competed in club rowing in Malvern, PA. She rowed in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta the past four years. She led the junior varsity 4 to a gold medal in 2005 at the event. She also led a junior varsity 4 to a first-place finish at the 2005 SRA Nationals. She rowed in the Canadian Henley and U.S. Rowing Nationals in the summer of 2005 and 2006. Hudome graduated from the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in 2007. " Complete article here
