4/17/2005 - 4th FLICK-HORVAT
Sacred Heart's second regatta of the weekend, the fourth Flick, took place on a clear, sunny day. The temperature was high and there was a slight breeze in the air. The novice double started Sacred Heart's day, with the crew of Paine, and Watters finishing third in their heat. Up next were the novice quads, both racing in the same heat. The A boat of Marshaleck, MacCrory, Swanick, and Farrell rowed hard to a second place finish, with the B boat of Sullivan, Conti, Johnson, and Leardi finishing fifth. The JV quad of Hudome, Groff, Horstman, and Nentwig rowed a strong race to finish third in its heat. Sacred Heart hit paydirt in the lightweight double event, as Cutler and O'Donnell rowed an excellent race, winning with open water over the second place boat. Also rowing in this varsity event were Mullan and Greenwald who finished fourth. Finishing up the day was the varsity quad of Davis, Burns, Dormans, and Moser, which won a tight race over a charging Springside boat. You can find the full results here.

4/10/2005 - 3rd FLICK-HORVAT
After the second Flick was canceled due to high water, the third Flick took place on a glorious sunny, warm day. This was the first Flick with split racing - boys in the morning and girls in the afternoon (alternating next week) - an arrangement which seemed to be generally unpopular. The novice quads raced first with the crew of Leardi, Conti, Paine, and Watters rowing to a fourth place finish in the first heat. The crew of Marshaleck, Sullivan, Swanick, and Johnson raced well in the second heat, finishing second behind a very fast Conestoga boat. Next up was the JV quad of Hudome, Groff, Horstman, and Nentwig rowing strongly to edge out Montclair for first place. Racing in the second JV quad heat were Mullan, Farrell, MacCrory, and Greenwald who rowed to a fifth place finish. The next Sacred Heart boat was the lightweight double of Cutler and O'Donnell who rowed a strong race to finish third. The last Sacred Heart race of the day saw the varsity quad of Davis, Burns, Dormans, and Moser row a strong, controlled race to finish first ahead of several traditional nemeses. Sacred Heart continues to build momentum as the racing begins to get more serious. You can find the full results here.
3/20/2005 - 1ST FLICK-HORVAT
Sacred Heart crew opened the 2005 racing season at the 1st Manny Flick. In true Flicks fashion, the weather went from 55 and sunny the day before, to a rainy 40 on race day. Racing earlier in the season than ever before, the novice quads squared off in an all Sacred Heart race. The A quad of Marshaleck, MacCrory, Farrell, and Johnson crossed the line first, followed by the B quad of Swanick, Sullivan, Conti, and Watters. Next up was the JV quad of Horstman, Groff, Hudome, and Nentwig which turned in a quick time, finishing 2nd in a field of 6 boats. Sacred Heart entered two boats in a field of five for the lightweight double. The A boat of Cutler and O'Donnell also turned in a fast time to finish 2nd, with the B boat of Mullan and Greenwald, after only a day or two in the boat, finishing 4th. The rain returned in force just in time for the varsity quad race. Competing against one other boat, the crew of Davis, Burns, Dormans, and Moser easily outdistanced their competition finishing well in front. The varsity quad race concluded an excellent first day of racing for Sacred Heart, which will look to return faster than ever after Easter break practices. You can find the full results here.
